Mark your calendars! The Denton Public Library (DPL) will be providing two helpful and informative programs in our Robson Ranch Library this fall. On Sept. 21 they’ll offer the very popular Denton Public Library Cards and E-Reader Assistance Program. On Oct. 12 they’ll return with a presentation on the Denton Public Library Makerspace (The Forge) and DPL Online Resources.

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. until noon, DPL librarians will be in the Robson Ranch Library in the CATC building to sign up residents for DPL cards, and to answer questions about using e-readers to download e-books, audiobooks, movies, and other materials available digitally from the Denton Public Library. Expiring library cards can also be renewed. Do you have questions about cloudLibrary or Hoopla? They’ll be able to answer them! To obtain a DPL card, you will need to show a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, etc.) and some kind of bill/document with your name and address on it. If your photo ID has your current address on it, that will suffice as proof of residency. If you need e-reader assistance, it would be best to bring your e-reader with you to the Robson Library. So, head to the Robson Ranch Library on Sept. 21!

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. until noon, the DPL Outreach librarian Haley Phillips and the DPL Technology librarian Trey Ford will be in the Robson Ranch Library to present an informative program on DPL resources. Their presentation will cover The Forge Makerspace at North Branch Library as well as DPL’s wide assortment of online resources.

Are you interested in a creative place to bring your imagination to life or wanting to learn a new skill? If so, after the presentation on Oct. 12, you’ll surely want to visit the North Branch Library to explore the possibilities! The Forge Makerspace provides crafters and innovators with classes to learn design, electronics, and programming. At The Forge, there are resources in 3D printing, electronics, robotics, web design, graphic design, digital art, animation, video editing, computer programming, and small business solutions.

Or are you interested in learning how to utilize online research tools, such as databases, tutorials, and webinars? The Denton Public Library provides a wide assortment of online resources (some of which can even be accessed from your home).

Haley and Trey will tell you about the DPL online resources and explore The Forge’s possibilities at the Oct. 12 presentation, and they’ll be happy to answer your questions.

Public libraries offer much more than books these days! Join us for the Oct. 12 presentation and check out the DPL website, www.library.cityofdenton.com, to learn more about the services offered by the Denton Public Library.
