Carol Collins, Carol’s Custom Draperies
Welcome to 2018!
I hope you’ve set some exciting goals for the days and months ahead. I am making my list and putting it in order.
One of the things I’m thinking about is changing the color in some of my rooms.
The Pantone Color Institute recently declared Ultra Violet as its 2018 Color of the Year. I’m not too sure I can go that bold other than in some accent pieces.
But have no fear. Paint manufacturers have also been rolling out their selection for 2018. The colors they have introduced are a bit more decorator friendly. Go on the internet and take a glance at these selections. You’ll see a diverse mix of lights, brights, darks and neutrals.
Oceanside by Sherwin Williams
Heron by Pratt & Lambert
Black Flame by PPG Paints
In the Moment by Behr
The Green Hour by Dunn-Edwards
Bahia Grass by Kelly-Moore
Sandstone Tint by Dutch Boy
Caliente by Benjamin Moore
Black Magic by Olympic
Deep Onyx by Glidden
With any of these color choices accent them with white trim, and in cases of the darker colors plant a white chair or sofa to tone down the intensity of the walls.
Some of us may not be bold enough to put so much color on the walls. My suggestion is to accent these colors in pillows, artwork, throw rugs and objects of art on the mantel and tables. Try out some of the new, bold and exiting fabric choices for draperies and cornices. We have new fabric additions coming into our already amazing collections.
But don’t leave your walls white or even an off white. Pick one of the colors shown in this list and have the paint store tone it down to suit your intensity.
The possibilities are limitless. Check out websites such as Houzz to get loads of ideas for creating a whole new look for your home.
Visit us at our new location at 535 S. Locust St. in Denton. We are about five blocks south of the downtown Square. Don’t worry about the parking; we have our own parking lot.
