Did Somebody Say, ‘Dressed Up Easels’?

Yes! We are back with a new show in October. Save the dates: Oct. 13 through 20 in the Clubhouse lobby! The Opening Reception to meet the artists is Oct. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres.

On Aug. 15 the Paint & Palette Club offered an acrylic painting class to a group ranging from first-time artists to those with experience. Guided by club president and artist Francesca Romano, the participants were shown how to add bright colors through paint, as well as texture, using a palette knife.

The session was an escape from the heat and full of laughter while trying something new. Although a picture of a lake and mountain served as the springboard, everyone added their own style to create a unique painting.

The next Third Monday Art Experience is Monday, Sept. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Artist Pat Heberling will demonstrate a technique using an oil and cold wax medium.

Cold wax is a creamy paste of beeswax, mineral solvents, and resins. Mixed with oil paint, it adds thickness to oils. Painted on a panel, it can be layered, gouged, and scratched to create a surprise texture.

Sign up early at the Indian Paintbrush Room (103) in the CATC building. Space is limited.
