Fire and Ice is one of Robert Frost’s most popular poems. In light of the Polar cold we experienced in January, it seemed appropriate:
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
It seems that Washington, DC as well as Austin, Texas are full of both fire and ice with fiery rhetoric on both sides of the aisle and icy silence to the voters who trusted them to represent their best interests.
State Representative Myra Crownover spoke at the January 7 meeting of the RR Republican Club. She devoted a significant part of her talk to the importance of the upcoming 84th Legislative session, calling it the “Opportunity Session” with issues like a Texas water plan, border security funding and infrastructure funding looming.
Representative Crownover stated, “I believe that a legislator’s primary responsibility is to represent the values and the interests of their constituents, and I am committed to serving the people of Denton County.” Crownover is widely recognized for her commitment to family values. In 2005 the March of Dimes named her “Advocate of the Year” for her work on behalf of Texas newborns. In 2011 she led the effort to add a screening for Cystic Fibrosis, and in 2013 she passed House Bill 740 that adds a non-invasive test for Critical Congenital Heart Disease. Over 500 Texas children and their families have been given a new lease on life due to the early detection of otherwise debilitating and often fatal disorders.
Marc Moffitt will be the guest speaker at the March 4 meeting of the RR Republican Club. Mr. Moffitt is the Senior Research Analyst for the Denton Central Appraisal District. Marc will speak on the home appraisal process for Denton County and specifically Robson Ranch. He will also discuss the appeal process. A Q&A time will be held at the end of his presentation. This will be a great opportunity for all Robson Ranch homeowners to attend a meeting. Brave the weather and join us Wednesday, March 4, at 630 p.m. for a social time and 7:00 p.m. for the meeting.
It is no longer enough to just vote, but rather each of us must become a participant and take an active role in Government! Many speakers at the RR Republican Club are non-partisan with useful information for all. Our elected officials represent all of us, not just Republicans or Democrats or Independents.
