The yoga community at Robson Ranch Denton enjoyed a free day of yoga on Labor Day, Sept. 4.
Thirty-eight yogis attended this event, led by Susan Engstrom, 500 E-RYT, and Susan Cope, 200 RYT. Both teachers each led two 30-minute classes in the styles of yoga listed below. Several of the yogis stayed for all four practices, and others came for one or two. Overall, it was an impressive turnout!
Classes taught on this free day are taught weekly here at Robson Ranch in the Fitness Room of the Cimarron building.
Vinyasa Yoga, also known as the “flow,” is a creative class that links the poses with your breath. The practice is fluid and builds strength, balance, and flexibility, along with cardio.
Yin is a passive series of poses that works the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, and lower spine. This practice stresses your joints and helps to restore flexibility while breaking up the fascia and deep connective tissue. Yin relaxes the mind as you release and let go of tension, both physical and mental.
Hatha Style emphasizes strength, balance, and flexibility. A chair will be available if needed to assist with balance.
Grounded Practice is a practice using seated, supine, and prone positions. Experience yoga without leaving the floor.
Susan Engstrom teaches Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Slow Flow, and Yin/Yang.
Susan Cope teaches Ease into Yoga, which is a chair-assist class if you need a chair to be able to get down on the floor or back up.
