From Your Living Well Committee

Patti Smith

Spring has not yet sprung, but we are being blessed with some fantastic weather. I hope you are finding time to enjoy these sunny and warm days doing whatever you like to do outdoors. I’ve been cleaning up my landscaping to help it grow and flourish. If you like growing things, remember, we have box gardens available at the Community Garden near the Michelle Way gate. If you would like your own garden, just contact Linda Caron at the HOA office by email at [email protected] or by phone at 940-246-1029.

If you prefer for someone else to do the growing, raising, or baking, be sure to stop by the Farmers Market every Friday morning from 8 to 11 a.m. Have you met our newest vendor at the market? Debi Dodd, owner of Decadent Delights, sells a variety of homemade baked goods and desserts. Everything is made from scratch using natural ingredients and family recipes. Debi takes pre-orders for pickup at the market, or she will deliver on the date needed at no charge.

Our monthly presentations continue to be a huge success, with a talk by Dr. Jeffrey Cantrell on Feb. 8 to a packed room of residents. Dr. Cantrell with Orthopedic Associates spoke on joint health, focusing on our “aging” hips, knees, and joints. His informative presentation broadened the audience’s understanding of joint health, as well as empowering them to make informed decisions for overall well-being. If you were unable to attend, you can watch a video of the presentation on our website, www.rrlwc.weebly.com.

We had a bonus presentation on Feb. 28, brought to you by both the African American Social Group and the Living Well Committee. Dr. Terre Quinn is a healthcare professional with expertise in the areas of breast cancer surgery and breast health.

This month we are hosting another good line-up of living well events. On March 7 we held a class on ways nutrition affects your sleep quality, stress levels, and health renewal. We discussed the science of sleep and nutritional insights for a better night’s sleep.

March 9 was the Robson Ranch Clubs and Activities Open House. Representatives from your Living Well Committee were there to provide information on everything we do to improve the health of all residents.

The Robson Ranch annual Health Fair will be held at the clubhouse on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come get your health questions answered or find that medical professional you might have been looking for.

The Living Well Committee will also be hosting an Easter Walk on Saturday, March 30, starting at 9 a.m. Watch your email for more information on participating.
