Garden Club News

The Garden Club celebrated Christmas with a luncheon on Dec. 18 in the Lonestar Room. The tables were decorated with Christmas poinsettias, bulbs, and, of course, candy. We played Flower Bingo and ate trio salads, with Christmas cupcakes for dessert. A lucky member from each table took a poinsettia home! It was a great time to meet neighbors and socialize.

The Garden Club will be hosting Lee Ann Yates, Denton Master Gardener, on Monday, Jan. 20, in the Robson Ranch clubhouse at 10:30 a.m. Lee Ann gave us a wonderful presentation on pansies last fall. This month she will talk about growing herbs, indoor and outdoor, both planting and care. She is a retired history professor. She has been a Denton County Master Gardener since 2016. She volunteers frequently for Master Gardeners, and it’s easy to see that she loves gardening. She was project manager at Denton County Historical Park and Gardens, just south of the square.

Consider joining the Garden Club. Dues are only $10 for a family. Come join us to meet more neighbors, get helpful gardening ideas, and learn about the unique gardening challenges and opportunities here at the Ranch. Our February meeting is still in the planning stage, so watch the HOA news blasts for details. March is the annual plant exchange. It’s great fun to see what everyone brings to share. I personally was thrilled to receive amaryllis, day lilies, and dark-blue salvia. We are looking for recommendations for the April Spring Yard Tour. Please contact Nancy Finley at 817-706-9501.
