The Garden Club presents the home of Michael and Lori Slocum, 8912 Bradford, as the September Yard of the Month. They have lived at Robson Ranch for 14 years. Lori is a Coldwell Banker realtor. I’m sure you have seen her signs throughout the Ranch. Lori is a former Garden Club president and vice president. The board thanks her for her eight years of service and leadership and is happy to honor her this month.
Lori became enamored with gardening in her early 30s, because she loved flowers. Her beds are filled with 90% perennials and feature Texas hardy plants. Her favorites are Rose of Sharon (several colors), hydrangeas, and peonies. The landscape is alive with color, textures, ground covers, shrubs, and trees of all kinds. It’s hard to find the mulch underneath. She has designed her landscape and chosen plants beautifully. Michael is in charge of the mowing and does a fabulous job. Be sure to compliment his work, too.
Look for Lori on the bocce courts, Texas toss, and swimming lanes. She plays duplicate bridge here at the Ranch, achieving a rank of Master Player. She and Mike enjoy annual golf vacations. Lori enjoys traveling with each grandchild for one-on-one time with Grandma. They travel and explore fun locations. If you are lucky to be invited for a meal, do not pass it up. Purple is her favorite color, and she is a fantastic hostess. Congratulations, Lori, you are one of a kind and a wonderful gardener.
The Garden Club opens the club year on Monday, Sept. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the Longhorn Room of the clubhouse. Previous members will have received their 2025-26 membership slip via email in August. Please print it and bring it with you to the first meeting. Dues are $10 per family for September of 2025 through May of 2026. If you are new to the Ranch, hadn’t joined in the past, or are a previous member who brings a guest, you will be entered into a raffle for a Texas native plant. A member of the Denton Master Gardeners will be our speaker. Watch your HOA daily notices for more information. Now’s the time to refresh our landscaping after the summer heat.
