The Rocks and Stones neighborhood had a roaring good time at the home of Kent Ver Meer and Arlene Lewis. Kent and Arlene hosted a Great Gatsby themed party based on the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Glitz and glamour were all around. The guests all came properly attired, with the women dressed in retro, regal vintage gowns, flapper dresses, long gloves, pearls, feathers and fishnet stockings. The neighborhood men were dapper in their three-piece suits, bowties, two-tone shoes, and suspenders. Great Gatsby props and decorations filled the house and added to the festivities. The gala event not only gave party goers, a reason to dress up, but also to dine on delicious food, and desserts. There was a bourbon bar, and just like in the days of the speakeasies, the champagne flowed. Door prizes and drawings also added to the fun! The cold and stormy weather outside couldn’t dampen the warmth, enthusiasm and camaraderie inside the house.
Unlike the tragic ending of the novel, this party ended on a happy note!
