The Robson Ranch Choir performed their spring concert on the weekend of April 20 and 21. The concert was a celebration of 20 years. The program, titled “Robson’s Greatest Hits—20 Years of Memories,” was packed with great songs and memories of the past 20 years. It honored the founders of the Music Club, Joe and Tawana Arnett, as well as four choir members still singing in the choir since the very beginning, Melba Beckham, Anne Meyer, Aileen Oliver, and Sue Solometo. All had moments to share, as well as the chance to introduce one of their favorite songs. The performance of great music and special memories made for an exceptionally superb concert.
The concert opened with “Forever Doo-Wop,” a combination of wonderful doo-wop songs like “A Teenager in Love,” “Save the Last Dance,” “Goodnight, Sweetheart,” and “Book of Love.” The tenors and basses of the choir were breathtakingly brilliant in their two songs, “Bring Him Home” and “Hallelujah.” The ladies of the choir had a moment of their own when they energetically and in spectacular fashion sang “’60s Chicks,” a medley of great songs of the ‘60s—hits like “Johnny Angel,” “It’s My Party,” and “I Only Want to Be with You.” Other crowd favorites were “Sing,” “Over the Rainbow,” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” A special performance of “Honey Bun” was reprised by Aileen Oliver and Leonard Marusak. Some folks are probably still asking themselves if that really just happened! It did, and they were adorable. Melba Beckham sang a memorable song set to the tune of “Memories” from the musical Cats, which was unforgettable and a big hit with the audience.
The concert was an enormous success, touching on how the love of music has brought such joy and wonderful memories to individuals and the community. The concert ended with a triumphant and glorious rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Climb Every Mountain.”
The Music Club thanks all who have continuously supported them over the past 20 years. We look forward to continuing to bring you great concerts and other musical events in the future.
