The Happy Tails Dog Club meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the CATC building, Room 103. The club, which currently boasts over 125 members, welcomes all Robson Ranch dog owners to visit and see what we are all about.
At the Aug. 10 meeting, members gathered for a “Bark and Brag” event, a popular get-together where attendees share stories about their dogs. All members participated, exchanging anecdotes that ranged from the bravery of a tiny four-pound dog meeting a Great Dane, a toy-destroying Labrador, a furniture-hopping canine, to many rescued dogs who are living their best lives with people who adore them. The meeting highlighted the wide variety of breeds and personalities among members’ pets.
The Sept. 14 meeting will feature a guest speaker from Happy Dance Dog Rescue, a local foster-based a
nimal rescue organization. Happy Dance Dog Rescue’s mission is to save dogs by providing medical care and foster homes until permanent placements are found. They also collaborate with local shelters to rescue large dogs and arrange for their transport to rescue groups in the Northwest. This presentation is expected to be informative and engaging for all attendees.
Blake Rochell, DVM, a veterinarian from Northlake Pet Hospital, will be our guest speaker in October. Dr. Rochell, who grew up on a farm in Southern Oklahoma, has extensive experience in mixed animal veterinary practices. He holds both a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Oklahoma State University. Many club members bring their pets to Dr. Rochell and are looking forward to his insights.
The annual Holiday Pet Photo sessions are set to take place at the beginning of November. This event is the club’s largest fundraiser and has been a hit with many pet owners in the past. Participants are always encouraged to bring holiday-themed props and decorations for their dogs to pose with, making it a fun and festive occasion. The photo sessions offer a wonderful way to capture holiday memories with pets while supporting the club’s activities. Further details and a sign-up list will be sent out at the beginning of October.
The traditional holiday party will be held on the second Saturday in December. A potluck and gift exchange are planned, with details on location and time to be released closer to the date. Usually a wonderful time to visit, share dog stories with fellow members, and sample savory snacks, it is a wonderful way to welcome in the holidays.
Membership dues are $10 per household per year. For more information about the club and to see photos of members’ pets, visit our website at rrhappytailsdogclub.weebly.com.
