Happy Tails Dog Club had a wonderful meeting on Sept. 9 with guest speaker Bette Sherman, co-founder of the Denton Animal Support Foundation (DASF). Happy Tails held another successful Pet Food Drive, with many club members and Robson community residents contributing. All donations went directly to the DASF Pet Food Pantry at the Denton Animal Shelter.

Bette spoke about DASF’s efforts over the years to raise money for the Denton Animal Shelter. In fact, through their fundraising, they helped fund the building of the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center. DASF also has several programs that assist pet owners with vaccines, vet care, etc. It’s heartwarming to see such dedicated individuals and organizations coming together to make a positive impact on the lives of pets and animals in need.

Our next meeting is on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the CATC building in Room 103, and is sure to be an exciting event! Having Kit Perry, a dog trainer and behavior consultant, as a speaker assures that attendees will gain valuable insights into dog training and behavior. It’s a fantastic opportunity for dog lovers and owners to enhance their understanding of their furry companions and learn practical tips for their training and well-being. In addition, Kit trained animals in zoos, including elephants, mountain lions, tigers, monkeys, birds, and goats. Her favorite zoo training program was with giraffes. This meeting promises to be both informative and enjoyable for all those who attend.

The Happy Tails Dog Club is hosting early Holiday Pet Photo sessions on Oct. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CATC building in Room 103. This event is the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and pet owners have been very pleased with the results in the past. Pet owners can bring holiday-themed props or decorations for their dogs to pose with, making it a festive and fun experience for both pets and their owners. It’s a fantastic opportunity to capture some adorable holiday-themed photos of your furry friends while supporting a good cause. Don’t forget to mark your calendar if you’re interested in participating or attending! Details and sign-up instructions will come out in the regular HOA emails.

For anyone interested in becoming a member of the Happy Tails Dog Club, there is a reduced fee of $5 per household through the end of the year! Come to a meeting and see what we are all about. This is a great opportunity for dog enthusiasts to come together, learn from fantastic guest speakers, and contribute to a worthy cause.
