Althea Parent

It was another fun Trivia Night at the Clubhouse Friday, May 5. It was another great group playing even though there were many other events taking place around the Ranch. However, there were still 20 playing teams and one spectator team. Teams find it’s best to go with your gut but sometimes talk each other out of the right answer. As a bonus Dorothea Dickey from Good Samaritan-Lake Forest Village and Corey Lingerfelt and Christina Grupico from Living Well Senior Care co-sponsored the event. They provided some delicious, freshly popped flavored popcorn and door prizes.

There are always some easy questions but of course there are those that you have to really think about and only have three minutes to come up with an answer. As always Althea Parent was the MC, and Dorothea, Corey and Christina shared the timer and music duties. The ladies were having such a good time and were teasing the members of the audience.

There are six rounds, which are made up of three questions each, and teams bet points on their answers. The half-time question had eight possible answers, and teams received one point for each correct answer. Nobody got all eight. The final question was worth 20 points, and teams bet a minimum of one point or all 20 points. Several teams went for broke and bet all their points; nine teams got the answer correct. A few teams were close going into the final questions, and those teams that only bet one point lost but would have tied. It’s always a lot of fun to watch the competitive groups.

The categories vary each Trivia Night, but here are a few of the questions from the May Trivia. Answers are at the bottom.

1. Sculpture: The statue knows as “Venus de Milo” is missing which body parts?

2. Geography: What U.S. city is home to the annual “All American Soap Box Derby?

3. Famous Brands: What brand of plastic containers designed to keep food fresh and air tight was invented in 1946?

4. Final Question, Restaurants: Who are the three original owners of the Planet Hollywood chain of restaurants?

Yes, eight team members working together as one…no use of cell phones…no call a friend!

The winning team members each received Wildhorse Grill gift certificates.

Congratulations! Wishful Thinkers – 80 points; Divas and Dudes – 75 points; Tip of the Tongue – 74 points
