Mary Ornberg
We grabbed our purses and away to lunch we went. Kathy Jeffrey was our guest speaker. She was raised on a cattle ranch in Argyle, TX, just up the road from Robson Ranch. She and her family enjoyed music, old movies and telling stories, and that’s just what Kathy did today. The one thing a woman can’t leave home without is her purse. Her purse tells a story about who she is, and Kathy Jeffrey unraveled the mysteries of our purses. She told us how they can be reflective of our lives, relationships and friendships in a delightful and humorous way. She had everyone laughing and enjoying her stories and real-life experiences. We all had “purse-onality” on this special luncheon day.
President Teresa Blackburn-Korn acknowledged all new members as well as first-time attendees. We had a problem with the audio so Teresa, a woman of many talents, improvised with her version of Marilyn Monroe in singing Happy Birthday to all the June birthdays. She actually did a good job!
Denton Friends of the Family Charity received donations of $900 plus some miscellaneous toiletries. Thank you to all the ladies who gave so generously.
President Blackburn-Korn gave a special thanks to Donna Ross, past vice president of membership, and Linda Overfield, our past parliamentarian, for their years of service to the Women’s Club. As they leave Robson Ranch we wish them the best in their new homes. Maureen “Mo” Fitzgerald has replaced Donna Ross as vice president of membership, and Joyce Frey has replaced Linda Overfield as parliamentarian.
The results of our Patio Tour event brought $4,800 to Ann’s Haven VNA Hospice Services and Hearts for Homes Charities. Many thanks to vendors, sponsors and volunteers who made this possible. Special thanks to the residents too.
