Kiwanis Club sharing a season of love and laughter

On Monday, December 19, the Robson Ranch Kiwanis Club held its first Christmas Party at The Grill. The event brought members together to celebrate the holiday season and raise money for the children in the Denton area. Kiwanis is, after all, about helping children. There were 62 members and spouses taking part in the festivities. The buffet dinner featured chicken piccata with salad and breadsticks; the Yule Log cakes were a special treat for dessert.

Following dinner the Déjà Vu Band led the group in Christmas carols. Of course the band is comprised of three Kiwanians: Carol and Bill Rauhauser and Mike Weaver. Susan Galbraith got the fun rolling with mind challenging games focusing with a Christmas theme. Prizes and lots of fun made for a very merry time.

The final activity involved a live auction of four houses, one sleigh, and a reindeer barn all made from gingerbread. Barbara Leurig baked and assembled all of the gingerbread. The decorating was done at Barbara’s home with the help of several ladies from the Kiwanis Club. Alice Wright, Barbara Hicks, Tanya Jones, Susan Galbraith and Catherine Jenkins stepped up to the challenge and did an outstanding job. Auctioneer Dave Everly handily sold all the items bringing in $240 total.

The party was a big success and enjoyed by all.
