Kiwanis Club Has Supported Texas Woman’s University Students for 15 Years

Shelby Gould

The Kiwanis Club of Robson Ranch has provided student scholarships annually for the past 15 years. The Kiwanis Club is very appreciative of the gracious support from our members and community to make these student scholarships available. The club receives heartwarming letters and videos of appreciation from each of the recipients, highlighting the important value of these scholarships in their lives.

The speaker at a recent Kiwanis meeting was Shelby Gould, assistant vice president of Advancement Operations and interim executive director and chief operating officer of the TWU Foundation. Shelby presented an overview of the current and future TWU projects that will be made possible by a major fundraising campaign. Supporting Shelby at the meeting was Michelle Cummings, director of Donor Relations & Stewardship Programs who administers the student scholarships from the Kiwanis Club.

The fundraising campaign “Dream Big” was launched, with a goal of raising $125 million in honor of the 125th anniversary of TWU in 2026. To date, $104 million has been raised.

Some of the major projects scheduled for TWU include the following:

• TWU Health Sciences Center with a groundbreaking this past September and opening in the Fall of 2025. The Health Sciences Center will enhance the reach of all five colleges at TWU to provide students with work experiences as many enter their chosen field of health care.

• Bezos Academy Partnership, which is a Montessori-inspired preschool providing free, year-round programming for kids ages 3 to 5 years old

• New School of Aeronautical Sciences offering a bachelor of science in Aviation Science degree and Professional Pilot and Aviation Management Tracks. This will start in the Fall of 2024, aided by a $15 million gift, the largest in TWU history.

TWU has an enrollment of 15,642 in the current year at its Denton, Dallas, and Houston campuses. Shelby pointed out that TWU has some of the lowest tuition and fee rates for state schools in Texas.
