MAY 7, 2021, Susan Galbraith called the meeting to order at 9 a.m.
Jim Galbraith inducted the newest member to Kiwanis, Dale Brekke. Welcome!
Our special guests are Wanda Young, and Theresa Pacleb from Rainbow Rooms. The two representatives came to meet with Pat Hamblin and Chris Mershon, whose pleasure it was to present to them and the Rainbow Rooms a check for $6,200. Plus, they had collected and delivered 8,055 diapers and over 700 hygiene items. The Rainbow Rooms thanked the ladies and all the Kiwanians, and everyone for the tireless work for this project.
Our guest speaker for the day was Bill Henning, a resident of Robson Ranch and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Bill came to speak to us about his 39 years as Police Detective in Wichita Falls, Texas. Bill spent most of his career in the Juvenile Division. Juveniles are ages 10 to 16; age of consent is 17, and they can be tried as adults. When a crime is committed, they are sent to Juvenile Detention and, while there, they must attend school. Bill’s career was remarkably interesting, we enjoyed having him.
The Texas Roadhouse Fundraiser made $150. Thank you Texas Roadhouse, for your support.
The Craft Show was held on the 29th of May. We had various vendors and a great raffle, with a 50” TV as just one of the prizes.
The Muenz’s contacted El Pollo Restaurant, and they gave us 200 coupons to sell to help our Denton charities. They were sold at the Craft Show on the 29th.
