Larry Varnes
I am seeking re-election for my second term as your HOA Resident Director. We have a wonderful community; the amenities are all first class. As a director I would commit to continuing to find the right balance between our quality of life and the cost of providing it.
The three most significant issues that need to be addressed by the Board are:
1. Financial stability. This will be required when the developer significantly reduces or eliminates subsidies. We need to develop a plan now to provide sufficient reserves for maintaining the future quality of the community without need for significant dues increases or future assessments.
2. Enhanced resident feedback. Listen to what residents want. We need to be responsive in order to maximize the value of our properties and the lifestyle associated with it.
3. Proactive communications. Insufficient communications can break down the trust needed between the developer and the HOA. Through the Unit Rep program, which I chair, we have improved, but this trend needs to continue.
I am uniquely qualified to address these issues. My skills were honed as chief strategic officer for a top 10 advertising agency. I helped develop marketing strategies for some of the top brands in the United States.
I have been president of two different HOAs. I am very accustomed to dealing with city government and developers.
I have been actively involved in Robson Ranch since I moved here, having served as a board advisor for four years prior to being elected as your resident director for the past two years.
But my more relevant qualifications are being a good listener, having good common sense and keeping a wry sense of humor. Each goes a long way to getting things done.
