If it’s summertime in Texas, it’s time for ice cream! In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, all Woman to Woman Denton Pregnancy Center volunteers who serve at either the offices, the clinic, or at Twice As Nice Resale, were invited to a Build Your Own Sundae Bar at Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream at Unicorn Lake in south Denton. Five of the dozen or so Liberty Belles who volunteer on a regular basis were able to attend, and started off with a light dinner and conversation before topping off the evening by building a delicious ice cream sundae from one of roughly 50 flavors that are hand made on site at Beth Marie’s. The ice cream shop uses a machine designed in the late 1920s to produce 10 gallons of uniquely flavored ice cream in 16 minutes. After contemplating the many flavors, we each picked a favorite and built our own sundaes to enjoy in the party room with staff and volunteers from Woman to Woman. We felt very special and appreciated! Thank you, W2W!
Between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, the Liberty Belles and the Republican Club participated in the W2W Baby Bottle Campaign to support the center as they champion life for the 37th year. The club raised $80 in their pink baby bottle bank to go towards the ministry.
On June 10 Woman to Woman held their “Denim to Diamonds” Purse Auction and Fashion Show here in the Robson Ranch ballroom. Ninety-one ladies attended the event and were treated to a buffet brunch of quiche, muffins, and fruit, while they bid on silent auction purses and jewelry and watched a cowgirl-themed fashion show that included two of our very own Liberty Belles strutting their stuff on the runway: Judy Martin-Tafoya and Carol Boyd. Purses and jewelry lined the walls of the entire room, and the clothes the models wore, as well as all of the table decorations, came from the Twice As Nice Resale store and were available for purchase. Everyone enjoyed the morning, and just under $10,000 was raised for a great cause. Next year will be even bigger and better!
