Happy Valentine’s Day! Old memories awaken remembering the simple little poems of yesteryear: “Roses are red, violets are blue …” Those words were usually attached to a heart-shaped box of chocolates and delivered to the appropriate person. Today, replaced by a text with an emoji! Aren’t you glad you were part of those “good ol’ days”?

The Living Well Committee provides informative presentations and events each month. We began this year on Jan. 18 with a presentation by Wally Sagui, NASM certified personal trainer and licensed massage therapist. Wally Sagui not only gave a comprehensive talk and slide show on “Maintaining Functional Movement in Our Senior Years,” but he also physically demonstrated proper body structure to allow muscles and joints to function properly, decreasing excess pressure on joints when doing everyday chores like cleaning, yardwork, and picking up grocery bags, and when using the machines and equipment at the Pinnacle Fitness Center, provided to all residents, an amenity that contributes to our amazing lifestyle here at Robson Ranch.

At this month’s presentation on Feb. 16 at 3 p.m., Jim Purpura, resident and certified meteorologist, will discuss extreme weather, how to plan for emergency shelter, and more. After a couple of weeks of some cold January temperatures, maybe Jim can help us prepare for what’s in store for us in the coming weeks.

You can find all our monthly presentations and events on our Living Well Committee website rrlwc.com. Presentations and events are posted as they are scheduled. Mark your calendars for a year full of interesting subjects—keep informed about our weekly blood pressure checks, Farmers Market, and special events. We are currently seeking additional qualified medical providers who would like to help with our weekly blood pressure checks. If you have some time to spare, please contact Joyce Ambre at 940-262-3425.

Last year, The Living Well Committee started The Reflective Sharing Group for widows and widowers or anyone who may be in need of comfort from a loss. The group meets the first Thursday of each month in the Legacy Room. The group is currently discussing “Grieving with Hope.” No reservations are necessary—just come!

For quick and easy pickup of products, our Friday Market Vendors will take phone orders and have them ready for pickup on Friday. This will eliminate your waiting on those cold, windy days. Check our website rrlwc.com for vendor products and contact information. We are so blessed to have loyal vendors braving the cold during these winter months.

Mark your calendars for each event so you don’t miss a one, and continue to check our website rrlwc.com.
