The intense heat is about to leave us after more than 40 days of record-breaking, dry, three-digit temperatures. Texas weather has been a surprise to Texans and non-Texans alike. We’ve gone from “0 degrees to 106,” and we’ve all survived doing what we do best—play! So, onward we go to fall and lots of active, outdoor events, beginning with Robson Ranch’s annual Olympics, which have already begun and will culminate on Sept. 24 at our awards luncheon. As usual, Liz has arranged for a fantastic Olympic luncheon, and new this year, a cash bar Margarita Special. Detailed information can be found on our fantastic website, rrlwc.com, thanks to Living Well member Marcia. Hopefully, all our energetic residents have signed up! In addition to Marcia, I want to recognize Tiffany, Tena, and Shirley, for their dedicated work in coordinating and registering residents for this huge event, as well as Gil and Fred for their expertise in preparing the roads for some of the street events.
Member Liz continues to be hard at work finding new vendors. If you like Asian food, you’ll love the flavors brought to you by Trick n Trade Chili by Uyen (Win) Hoang. Her products can be stirred into most anything. She even has some delicious soups. Also returning is Mayme & Papa Coffee and scrumptious bites. Our dedicated vendors have previously braved the cold and now the intense heat. Please take advantage of their wonderful, fresh products on our Friday Market from 8 to 11 a.m. All vendor information is on our website, along with their contact numbers if you prefer to pre-order.
Our committee has partnered with the Robson Breast Cancer Awareness group for an “All Cancer Walk” led by Gil and Fred on Saturday, Oct. 15, starting at 9 a.m. at the clubhouse parking lot. Everyone is invited. A $25 cash-only pre-registration fee will include a t-shirt if registered by Sept. 9. All proceeds will benefit the Texas Oncology Foundation. More detailed information can be found on our website, rrlwc.com.
On Sept. 16, Dr. Shau, orthopedic surgeon, will discuss joint care and its impact on mental and overall health. Be there for this informative presentation. Bring your questions. I know Dr. Shau will have answers.
Scott has arranged for the large room on Oct. 6 at 2 p.m., when Dan Ballenger will be presenting information on Medicare. If you’re new to Medicare, you’ll need a front seat, and for everyone else, the updated information is a must for a better decision-making process. Then on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m., Jennifer Bumpus of Wise Health System will be speaking on health care. Mark your calendars to attend these most informative presentations. On Nov. 5 Matt and Katherine Lawrence will present “Immune Boosters—better food choices,” and on Nov. 24 Gil gets into gear with his annual Turkey Trot walk, which begins at 8 a.m. More on these at a later date, or check for more details on our website.
Also, take advantage of our Wednesday morning Blood Pressure Check at 9 a.m., and get ready to replant your box garden. Details are on our website, rrlwc.com.
Your HOA Living Well Committee members are all working to bring you informative, interesting presentations and events, chaired by Joyce Ambre and overseen by HOA Manager Rhett and other visiting board members. We hope you’ll continue to take advantage of these complimentary monthly presentations and events.
