Once again, the Material Girls group came through in 2019 for a number of charities and donated over 500 handmade items. Among these items were three soldier quilts that went to deployed military and 15 quilts to children of active duty military who attended a summer camp. Seventy-five pillows for cancer patients and over 100 pillowcases were donated to CASA and Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home. CASA also received 50 decorated Christmas stockings while Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home received 100. The After Schoolers received 25, and Binky Patrol received 31. Fifteen quilts were also sent to an orphanage in the mountains of Kenya.
A great deal of work went into baby items for “Operation Shower”, a yearly baby shower for wives of deployed military. Forty each of bibs, quilts, receiving blankets, taggies, bears, and 80 burp cloths were donated for a total of 280 items.
It’s amazing that we have time to create for our friends, families, and ourselves too during the year, but we manage.
