At the board meeting on Oct. 3, we reviewed the club activities for the prior year, which were many, and began planning for the coming year. Members have stepped forward to lead events, and we will have at least one ride or activity each month. Thanks to the board members for coordinating these efforts and keeping the fun going.
We closed out September with a lunch ride to Blue Bayou at Eagle Mountain Lake on the 30th. Steve Bouse boldly captained this outing. Rosie Bouse, Mike and Marti Conley, Ron Bane, Robert and Nancy Whipple, Kelly Walsh, Eddie Schmidt, and Dave Popejoy all joined in for the fun!
Ride Captain Mike Conley led the overnight ride to Granbury on Oct. 10-11. Just far enough down the road, Granbury has so much to visit and see. After a fine dinner, the group gathered at the hallowed Granbury Opera House to see El Loco Fandango, a ZZ Top tribute band out of Colorado. They formed in 2021, born out of their physical resemblance to “That Little Ol’ Band from Texas.” They pay special attention to grooming, dressing, and styling and have put together a set culled from the band’s 50-year catalogue of hits. The luxurious accommodations at the Comfort Suites in Granbury kept everyone comfortable and relaxed for the ride back to Denton—the essence of a great overnight road trip!
The October lunch ride was scheduled for the 22nd to Red’s Burger House in Azle. Ron Bane, Carrylyn Jacobs, Vicki Rawles, Mike and Marti Conley, and Steve Collins made the journey to enjoy a ride and have a great lunch.
Upcoming events are the lunch ride to Tender Smokehouse in Whitesboro on Dec. 4 and the annual Motorcycle Club Safety Meeting on Feb. 11.
Our Holiday Party will be on Dec. 2 at GreenHouse Restaurant. We look forward to the social event of the year and are eager to see the latest version of the White Elephant gift exchange, the highlight of the evening.
The Coats for Kids event will culminate on Saturday, Nov. 29. We will be collecting coats continuously until then. As we are not having the ride, this year, donations on the day of the ride may well be lower. Please consider helping us by contributing a coat for a child, preschool through high school. Puffy coats, sweatshirts, hoodies, and pullovers are all welcome and will be distributed to students in all of the Denton County school districts. Drop one off at my door or with any member of the Robson Ranch Motorcycle Club. We would sincerely appreciate it.
See you on the road!
Beware of cagers, and keep the rubber side down.
