Music Club Welcomes the Denton Community Band

Frances Hackley, Publicity Chair

The Robson Ranch Music Club is very excited to sponsor and welcome the Denton Community Band back to Robson. The band has not been here since 2019, of course, because of COVID-19. The band is conducted by Carol Lynn Mizell. She is a published composer and oboist herself.

Carol-Lynn Mizell retired in May of 2017 from her “day job” as band and handbell director at Strickland Middle School in Denton. She has conducted the Denton Community Band since 1978. She holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of North Texas, and has done extensive post-graduate work at UNT. She is also conductor of the Handbell Choirs at First United Methodist Church, Denton, and a longtime member of the FUMC Chancel Choir. An active participant in community arts, Carol Lynn was a member of the board of directors of the Greater Denton Arts Council for nine years, served as treasurer, served as president (1986-87), and was the recipient of GDAC’s Community Arts Recognition Award (CARA) in 1989. She served as associate director of the Denton Festival of Carols for 13 years.

The band will perform in the clubhouse ballroom on the 4th of July at 7 p.m. They will execute an assortment of your favorite patriotic tunes, with an opportunity to sing along.

Ticket sales began on Monday, June 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the lobby of the clubhouse, and will continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through July 1. The cost is $5. Tickets will also be available on PayPal for $6, then at the door the day of the performance for $10.

Come and enjoy the zeal of this wonderful band playing our nation’s most beautiful patriotic songs on one of the year’s proudest days, the 4th of July!
