Nebraska Club Celebrates the 2023 Season

August is the traditional time for Robson Ranch Nebraskans and Huskers supporters to gather and talk about hometowns, high schools, old friends, what life “used to be like when we were less senior,” and can the Cornhuskers win more than four games in 2023. This year, the group met on Aug. 20, led by President John Harnly, in the Wildhorse Grill Lounge. A good time was had by all.

Forty-five souls, dubbed the Cornhuskers, admitted from where they came in the 16th largest state by land area, but 12th least populous state with 1.9 million handsome, smart people. The flagship institution, as everyone knows, is the University of Nebraska with its Go Big Red Cornhusker teams: volleyball, baseball, softball, golf, track and field, soccer, basketball, wrestling, tennis, gymnastics, swimming, and football.

Expectations are high for football with new head coach Matt Rhule and assistant coaches. The spring game showed glimmers of great hope for the Blackshirt Defense, but the offense is still a TBD. But that did not stop the continued chatter at the club meeting. Hope springs eternal for the Huskers! The 2023 schedule was shared, and Gene and Barb Martin volunteered to host the first game watch, Nebraska vs. Minnesota, held on Aug. 31.
