NxNW Celebrates It’s Fall, Y’all

Cherlyn Conway

The neighbors on Osprey, Brant, Cinnamon, and Willet, also known as NxNW, ventured off from previous years’ chili cook-offs and helped welcome fall to the neighborhood with their first-ever Fall Fest, with food, fun, music, and games on Sunday, Oct. 22. With about 45 in attendance, the menu consisted of brats and pulled chicken sandwiches, with neighbors filling in with delicious side dishes and desserts.

As the music filled the Willet Court cul-de-sac, the Texas toss tournament was in full swing, with six sets of boards playing a single elimination to a first, second, and third place ranking, and winners selected various gifts from the prize table.

As the tables filled with the close-knit neighbors, the conversations got louder, and the competition at the toss boards heated up to snag the best prize. We saw Robsonites out for the Sunday afternoon golf cart ride slow down as they went by the cul-de-sac and no doubt thought, NxNW at it again with fun and fellowship, “Tell me again why we don’t live in this neighborhood.”

We might have broken down this event a little early this year, as the Texas Rangers were playing Sunday night trying to tie up the ALCS against the Houston Astros (which they did, by the way, and are headed to the World Series as of this writing). The game did not disappoint, just as the Fall Fest did not disappoint. As with any first-time event, we have suggestions, ideas, and tweaking for next year’s fall event.

There are still plenty of things stirring in our neighborhood, with our monthly driveway socials, dine arounds, ladies whine chat, holiday party, cookie exchange, potlucks, and a table at one of the dances. If that is not enough, there is the generosity of this amazing section of Robson that never fails to answer the call for support, with the latest being the Veterans Day silent auction to the Coats 4 Kids drive.

Until a future update on our escapades, I think I’ll go take a rest and get ready for the next event. Stay safe, and see you around the Ranch. And, by the way, in case you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s always a great day to be a NxNW-er!
