Who Knew We Had So Many Resident Poets at Robson Ranch?

Tiffany Ramzy

On Sunday evening, Oct. 15, some of our resident poets stepped up to the mic and eloquently expressed themselves during the Open Mic portion of the Spoken Word event.

This lovely evening began with an hour of Open Mic participants featuring Robson residents:

• Richard Kushmaul, president of the Denton Poets Assembly, read an original poem entitled “Road Kill Chili.”

• Jeff Frick read an original poem.

• Lavelle Carlson, children’s book author, read an original poem entitled “Flight of a Young Bird.”

• Jackie Ford read two original pieces: “Peggie Sue Had a Farm” and “Jolm.”

• Paul Harwood, a published poet, read an original poem entitled “The New Year’s Poem.”

• Tiffany Ramzy read Edgar Guest’s poem entitled “Self.”

Non-Robson Open Mic participants:

• Amy Daniels

• Angel @Salontalkwithangel

During the second hour, the audience was entertained by professional poets KT Witten and Mz Viki who each read/recited from some of their original works. Both poets sold autographed copies of their books at the conclusion of the event. There were 50 people in attendance at the event, which was held at the Wildhorse Grill Bar and was sponsored by the African American Social Group. The hostess for the evening was Tiffany Ramzy.
