NxNW—Hones Sleuthing Skills for Murder Mystery

Twenty NxNW friends trying to figure out Who Done It

Cherlyn Conway

It was a hot, muggy evening on June 5 when 20 NxNW neighbors gathered at the clubhouse to help solve a murder mystery. The NxNW sleuths reported to the bullpen, split into teams, and quickly began sizing up the competition while testing their own investigative instincts.

The teams reviewed the facts: the victim was the richest man in town, and his life was tangled with enough townspeople to create a long list of suspects. As the NxNW investigators studied the murder board, the suspects began drifting into the bullpen and working the room.

This gave us a chance to draw each suspect into casual conversation about their whereabouts at the time of the murder, how they knew the victim, and the nature of their relationship while watching for inconsistencies in their stories.

Each suspect gave a convincing performance, casting doubt on the others while firmly claiming innocence.

When the time came to identify the killer, the 20 NxNW sleuths presented their findings and tried to persuade their teammates they had solved the case.

Unfortunately, the NxNW groups could not agree on the culprit and arrested the wrong suspect. It is safe to say we may not be invited to assist with the next murder investigation.

NxNW Continues Sleuthing Skills at the Road Rally

After a week nursing our bruised egos, we tackled another challenge that called for sleuthing, teamwork, and persistence: the NxNW Road Rally on June 13, and by the way—another very

hot and muggy day.

Teams gathered at Carrie and Dean Summers’ home, the headquarters for the event, to receive maps and clues for the destinations ahead. Once the two-hour clock started, golf carts, cars, and teams headed in every direction with maps and clues flapping in the wind to find about 15 Robson Ranch streets and match each clue with the corresponding placard number hidden in a checkered-flag container.

The winning team found all the placards in under an hour; there were a few other teams that did get all the clues and prizes were awarded for the first three teams that found all the clues. Many of us, however, gave up after more than an hour of searching, being wind-blown, dehydrated and possibly to save a divorce amongst some teammates and decided that cocktails and a meal had more potential than chasing the remaining clues.

Although this was our third time holding a Road Rally, the event was still fun and challenging thanks to new neighbors, new streets in Robson Ranch, and plenty of friendly competition.

NxNW continues to stand out as one of Robson Ranch’s most active and connected neighborhoods, where fun, friendship, and community spirit come together.

We currently have a couple houses for sale in our neighborhood, want to be our neighbor?
