The Photography Club held its July general meeting on July 20 at the Creative Arts Technology Center, welcoming Robson Ranch residents for an evening of learning and fellowship. Members and guests gathered early for an informal meet-and-greet, providing an opportunity to visit with fellow photography enthusiasts before the well-attended program began.
Club members Mike Waterhouse and Randy Hatcher introduced the concept of photographic projects, in which a series of images centered on a common theme or story is used rather than individual, unrelated photographs. They shared examples demonstrating how a collection of images can tell a story and offered practical tips for creating photographic essays, leaving attendees with ideas and inspiration for their own work. Jerry Schlesinger also presented images from his photographic project featuring vanity license plates, demonstrating how even everyday subjects can become engaging visual collections.
The club presented images captured by individual members during Fourth of July celebrations, showcasing a variety of memorable moments and creative perspectives. During the popular monthly “Member Focus” segment, Randy Taylor and Frank Barnhart showcased several of their favorite photographs, highlighting the creativity and talent of club members.
The meeting also featured the results of the June monthly image contest, themed “Selective Focus.” The contest review provided members with an opportunity to view outstanding images and hear the judges’ observations.
The evening highlighted both the technical and creative aspects of photography, inspiring members to explore new ideas for future projects and competitions. The Photography Club general membership meeting is held on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Creative Arts Technology Center. All Robson Ranch residents are welcome to attend.
