Pumpkins a Plenty, a Painter’s Paradise

Rosie and Steve Bouse at the Dallas Arboretum

Rosie Kuhn Bouse

Pretty and plump, plentiful for sure, pumpkins line the pathways throughout the enchanting Dallas Arboretum. Who would not be inspired by this plethora of autumn color while ambling through this delightful paradise. What better place to feed the artist’s soul than a color-filled fall garden with pumpkin lined pathways!

Autumn is a time to enjoy the slightly cooler temps, the ever present sunshine and to revel in a new color palette. Gardens take on a new look for the plants with bright yellows, russets and reds, crimsons and purples. The leaves begin to turn golden, tangerine, deeper forest greens and tones of browns. This burst of color is to savor before the earth falls into a less colorful winter slumber. Be sure to keep your camera handy for ideas for a future painting.

Members of the Paint and Palette Club are preparing their paintings to display at the Fall Exhibition. The theme is The Seasons of Art and it will take place in the Clubhouse lobby from Sunday, Oct.18 through Thursday, Oct. 22. There will be an evening to Meet the Artist on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. A cash bar will be available. Many long time members of the Paint and Palette Club, as well as new members will be exhibiting their creations. Be advised, ‘artist’s fever’ may be contagious. A number of folks who have stopped to chat, have become new members of the club. After all, artists make for interesting company, not just for conversation but many are a study in style themselves. One can’t help but notice the personal touches to their attire such as hand painted jewelry and attire by Jan Marx, or the cross stitched articles of clothing by our president Judy Riffel. The Paint and Palette artists are eager to meet you. So, don’t miss an autumn treat to the eye at the very popular Fall Exhibition. It’s better than indulging in a pumpkin spice latte and there are no calories attached!

Yearly membership for the Paint and Palette Club is $10. Third Monday experiences are a class or workshop. Flash Fridays are often spontaneous and announced previous to the date. Room 103 in the CATC is open for members to work on personal projects on Mondays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors are welcome to drop in to observe real artists at work.
