Road Runner Travel Club Fall Foliage Tour

The Road Runners will be off on an eight-day tour embracing the fall beauty of New England on Oct. 9-16, 2023. The tour is offered by our travel partner Brandt Travel and hosted by Insight Vacations.

Oct. 9: Welcome to Boston. After settling in at Hyatt Regency Boston, you will have time to explore Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market before joining the tour director for a welcome dinner.

Oct. 10: Beantown to Williamstown. In the morning, you will have time to follow the Freedom Trail and enjoy sights, including Beacon Hill and Newbury Street. Then you can choose to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum or Chesterwood Studio before heading off to Williamsburg to check in and have dinner at The Orchards Hotel.

Oct. 11: The Legends of the Fall and Stowe. You will leave Massachusetts and journey through the bronze foliage of Vermont. The tour will have several stops before visiting Woodstock. The day will end in Stowe, made famous by the Von Trapp family. Dinner will be at Bierhall before retiring for the evening at the Trapp Family Lodge.

Oct. 12: A Taste of Vermont. The morning will be relaxing with a tour of the Ben & Jerry’s factory. The afternoon will be spent exploring the town and resort on your last evening at the Trapp Family Lodge.

Oct. 13: North Conway and the White Mountains. The tour will move on to Vermont’s capital, Montpelier, where you will visit Sugarworks and taste a Vermont tradition, “sugar on snow.” The tour will continue to the White Mountains and Franconia Notch. Here you will take a Gondola SkyRide at Loon Mountain Resort. On a bright day, you will have panoramic views of many states and Canada. From there, you will travel on the famed Kancamagus Scenic Byway to North Conway. You will check in and have an evening meal at the North Conway Grand Hotel.

Oct. 14: Sightseeing in the White Mountains. You will have a relaxing morning and enjoy a talk by a naturalist on the North Woods’ wildlife and ecology. Then more spectacular fall foliage awaits as you journey through Crawford Notch. Stop for pictures at the Silver Cascade Waterfall and Bretton Woods, which offers stunning views of Mount Washington. Then take a guided hike to Diana’s Baths, which features a series of small cascading waterfalls. Return to your hotel, the Conway Grand Hotel, where you will enjoy an evening at leisure.

Oct. 15: The Rugged Maine Coast. Cross from New Hampshire into Maine this morning as you visit the jagged coastline and Portland Head Light on the spectacular shores of Fort Williams Park. Explore the historic town of Cape Elizabeth, then spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Celebration Dinner featuring Maine lobster. The hotel for the evening is the Westin Portland Harborview.

Oct. 16: Back to Boston. Known for its sandy beaches, Kennebunkport is a year-round coastal destination that houses the rich and famous. Travel along Ocean Drive with more stunning views of the Maine coastline before driving back to Boston and your return to the Ranch.
