The Robson Ranch Community Choir will proudly present the concert “Silver Screen Classics” on Saturday, April 15, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 16, at 4 p.m. This Red Carpet event featuring classic songs of the movies will transport you to when you first saw the movies and heard the songs.
You will not be able to control your feeling of elation when you hear and feel the disco-pop beat of “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from Trolls. Nostalgia will set in when you hear “Moon River” from the romantic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The songs “Climb Every Mountain” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” meant to lift and inspire one to find a way, one step at a time, to find their dream and never give up, will certainly do just that. Both songs also remind us, as does “Remember Me,” from the movie Coco, that we are not alone in these endeavors. Of course, we cannot do songs of the movies and not perform “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. When Auntie Em tells Dorothy to go find a place where she can stay out of trouble, her imagination takes her “over the rainbow.” Then, thanks to a tornado and a bump on the head, her journey to Oz begins. You will also hear songs from recent movies. The emotional and guttural Oscar-winning “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, tells the story of how two lovers’ ups and downs in both their relationship and careers lead them to dive into the deep end of life. Also being performed, recent Oscar-winning song “No Time to Die” from the movie of the same name, written by 17-year-old Billie Eilish, with its dark and shivery theme, tells the whole plot of the movie.
Many other Oscar-nominated and winning songs will be performed and accompanied by some of the best instrumentalists in North Texas, including the accomplished Paul Lees on piano. All will be under the direction of Dr. Arturo Ortega and performed by your very own friends and neighbors of Robson.
Tickets are on sale now on our website rrmusicclub.com for $16 via PayPal. Tickets are also on sale in the clubhouse every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. through April 14. Tickets at the door will be $17. Children tickets (16 and under) will be sold at the door for $10. You just cannot miss out on this truly charismatic, riveting, and delightfully pleasing assortment of songs. Like one of the songs being performed from the movie Dirty Dancing, it could just be “The Time of Your Life”!
