Seventy two bridge players participated in an 18 table Swiss Team Game on June 19 to raise money to fight Alzheimer’s. The event was held in the Robson Ranch Clubhouse and included plenty of refreshments and door prizes. Attendees included members of the Robson Ranch Duplicate Bridge Club, the Shirley Walker Bridge Club, the Denton Bridge Studio and various other local bridge clubs.
Studies have shown that playing strategic games like bridge helps keep the brain healthy and strong. The American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), in association with the Alzheimer’s Association, sponsors an annual event, Do What You Love to End ALZ, to fund Alzheimer’s research and care. The Robson Ranch Duplicate Bridge club raised over $1,760, in addition to the money collected from the game fees, to contribute to this worthy cause.
Bridge director Tawana Arnett did an amazing job planning and executing this worthy event. The Robson Ranch Duplicate Bridge Club hosts three weekly ACBL sanctioned games under the direction of ACBL Director Tawana Arnett. The Monday and Friday games are held at noon. and the Wednesday game, directed by Norris Drum, at 6 p.m. All bridge players are welcome to join us. No partner? Not a problem. Tawana will work diligently to try and find one for you. For more information contact director Tawana Arnett at rrdentonbridge@gmail.com.
