Each year on November 10, Marines around the globe celebrate their beloved United States Marine Corps birthday. It was no different at Robson Ranch this year when 17 Robson Ranch Marines and guests gathered to celebrate their Corps 240th Birthday with a traditional reading of the birthday message from the Commandant of the Marine Corps followed by a cake cutting ceremony in which the senior officer present, Lt. Col. Ray Cushman, cuts the cake with a Marine sword and serves the first piece to the oldest Marine present, Watson Crumbie, age 90, who in turn serves the youngest Marine present, S/Sgt Clayton P. Brand, age 30. S/Sgt Brand is from the local recruiting office on Loop 288 at IH-35E in Fort Worth, TX. He briefed everyone on his tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan after which the Marines adjourned to Veterans Park where taps was played while remembering Gordon Summers, a WW II and former Robson Ranch Marine, as well as the memory of all who are no longer with us. We missed our Chaplain, Larry Bentley, who was unable to attend this year.
Thanks to Jeff Harwell, for the benediction and the photos, to Col. Ray Cushman for presiding and especially to Don Kissock for providing the traditional cake.
