Robson Ranch Softball Association prepares for summer

Rebecca Cole

May has been another busy month for the RRSA Board with another rainy month—not only a wet field but keeping the temporary road accessible to and from the field, getting bids for the scorer’s booth, planning a summer league and the end of the spring season festivities.

After approval of the scorer’s booth from the HOA and all the necessary paperwork underway, construction will begin this summer and be completed this fall. This will be a two-story structure with the scorekeeper and announcer on the second floor behind the fence at home plate. It will give both a better advantage of watching the game.

This summer the RRSA proposed having a league to be played twice a week in the morning beginning in mid-June through mid-August. Each team would only play once a week. Since this is the first time to try playing in the summer, no registration fees will be collected. There have been quite a few to sign up; participation is encouraged to help keep in shape for the fall, and as always to have fun.

There was a tournament May 30 to end the spring season. This included four teams—a game in the morning and another in the afternoon. The winners of these games played on Sunday afternoon. A free picnic with grilled hot dogs, chips and sodas was served, and a dunking booth was set up to dunk the ones we love.

The Board would like to thank all the volunteers that help make our season, from the umpires, announcers and scorekeepers to the players; it’s all a team effort to keep our league running.
