The house band (host) for the August meeting of the Rock and Roll Martini Group was Susan Hebert. Susan picked the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist, Janis Joplin, as the featured band for the month. Janis Joplin was an American rock, soul, and blues singer-songwriter, and one of the most successful and widely known rock stars of her era. Janis was a Texas native born in Port Arthur, Texas. The Rockers (members) and guests enjoyed two martinis during the evening. The Janis Joplin Screw and the Bobby McGee were special martinis made with Southern Comfort, Janis’s favorite adult beverage. Susan Hebert mixed up some of her famous shrimp étouffée with rice and crusty bread. Others brought in a smorgasbord of appetizers and desserts. Until next month, ROCK ON!
