Actress/singer Doris Day heralded the new year for the Rockin’ Red Ranchers with the playing of her recorded rendition of “Getting to Know You,” which is this year’s theme, selected by incoming Queen Pat Hamblin.
After a lovely brunch (with or without a Mimosa), outgoing Queen Judy Ondina thanked her board members for their service and support, introduced past Queens who were in attendance, and welcomed new members before turning over her crown to Pat Hamblin.
Pat continued by sharing facts about her life and introduced her new board. Each explained their duties so everyone could get to know them. New board members include Secretary, Janice Forthman; Treasurer, Diane Eoff; Events, Janice Brown; Sunshine, Bernadette Fideli; Publicity, Celia Hall; and Vice Queen, Carla Baldassaro.
A simple “Getting to Know You” game was played with the entire group before board members facilitated lively discussions at their tables with members who were asked to bring something personal with them to the event. The room was buzzing with energy and joy as we all got to know each other better!
The brunch ended with the last two verses of the song and a favorite quote of Pat’s, “Be the reason someone smiles today.”
