The Rockin’ Red Ranchers traveled to Grapevine for fun and food. If you haven’t been to the Olive Oil Company on Main Street in Historic Grapevine you’ve missed a real gem. They feature over 60 premium extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars from all over the world. They also carry Texas olive oil. When you visit the store you can taste all of the selections. The owner of the shop, Terri, gave us an introduction in the use of oils and vinegars for salads, desserts and much more. Then the ladies went across the street to Dr. Sue’s Chocolate Shop. Dr. Sue is a practicing physician on a mission to fight obesity-related disease through all-natural dark chocolate made to taste better and help you live healthier. She believes all-natural chocolate offers a richly decadent yet more healthful and beneficial confection. This trip was planned by Phyllis Ayers and Nanci Zipes.
The Rockin’ Red Ranchers’ annual pool party was held on Friday, July 8. This year’s theme was a Beach Party from the Sixties. The decorations were palm trees, sand buckets, sharks and beach towels. Beach Party music was playing on the boom box. Bernadette Fideli treated us to a water aerobics class. Mala organized a game of water volleyball, and on the lawn we played water balloon toss. We ordered lunch from the Wildhorse Grill delivered by Rhett and Jeremy in the Grill’s golf cart. Water, fruit and cookies were provided by the hostesses. The ladies sat in a circle and told stories about when they were teenagers. We heard many funny stories about high school proms, high school graduations and sleep-over parties. Mala brought a giant shark, and everyone had their picture taken in the shark’s mouth. This was a nice way to spend a Texas hot summer day. The hostesses were Carol Solow, Mala Bowdouris, Phyllis Ayers and Rosemary Weinstein, and they did a great job of planning everything. We are looking forward to our next adventure.
