The Rollin’ Ranchers Car Club was busy in October. In addition to several car shows outside the Ranch, the club held two events at the Ranch.
In the spring, the Frisco Lakes Car Club from the Del Webb community invited the Rollin’ Ranchers to a show at their home community. It only seemed fitting that we return the favor and have them over for a show at the Ranch. Thirty-two member cars from the two groups gathered at the clubhouse on a beautiful Saturday. Many stories were told, and the members enjoyed talking about their rides. More get-togethers are planned for the two clubs.
The annual Robson cruise was next up on the docket. On another lovely Saturday with a solar eclipse in our sights, the club ventured out. Twenty-four members took part in the cruise, dedicated this year to club member Ricke Rubin who recently passed. Ricke was an instrumental member of the club who planned events and took outstanding photos at every car show he attended. We stopped at Pam Rubin’s home to give her our support. She was so gracious in providing us with donuts and beverages. What a wonderful way to remember Ricke, because cruising in his 1955 double nickel Chevy Delivery Sedan was so special for him. This cruise brought back many memories.
Looking ahead, the club has two shows planned at Denton retirement centers, followed by the annual Christmas Toy Drive Car Show on Sunday, Nov. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the clubhouse parking lot. We want to fill another classic truck with unwrapped toys for the children. This toy drive is in conjunction with the Texas State Guard Toy Drive. So, come on out and see some of your neighbors’ classic cars while helping needy children.
