Sassy Stampers’ first meeting of 2024 was held on Jan. 20 with a bursting-at-the-seams crowd. Many could not make it to the annual holiday party, so there was quite a bit of catching up to do, as the room was a buzz with conversations of holidays and this crazy weather.
There have been opportunities for us to get together and make cards before the monthly meeting, as in the SOT (Support Our Troops) card-making day held on the first Friday of each month, and several Stampers braved the cold, nasty weather on Jan. 15 and took advantage of one of many special project days planned for 2024 by attending the Mod Podge Day. The card front is made with a section of a napkin that gets coated with a mixture that would remind one of the old papier-mâché days. A little bit of sparkle lies over the original coating, and you end up with a card no one would expect to have started with a napkin.
January’s card was brought to the club by Bobbie Witt. The card had a little bit of sass with some geometric design options. The table teachers came prepared to share their experiences in making this card and the possibilities this card has to offer. It is what this writer calls an all-purpose card. You can dress it up or dress it down, and it could be fitted for many occasions.
The cards that adorn the Sassy Stampers window for January are colors of blue and white. The cards Stampers were asked to bring to the January meeting were red and white to showcase for February. If you’ve never been in the CATC building or have never stopped at the Stampers window, you are missing out. Longtime Stampers April Bayne and Jean Euker do an amazing job with our window. They both have quite an eye besides card making.
This month is a wrap, but it’s truly never a wrap for a Stamper, as the ideas and design options seem to be around every corner with, “Oh, I want to make that card,” and “I love that paper.” So, off we go back to our craft rooms with paper, bling, tools, and adhesive on our workspace and make fun and beautiful cards to share with those who are special to us. I hope you have been a lucky recipient of a handmade card by one of the 80-plus Sassy Stampers in our club.
Until next time, the Sassy Stampers leave you with this quote from Maya Angelou: “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
