It was a packed beach as seasoned and new Stampers found their way to find a place on the beach blanket (chairs) inside the CATC to create this month’s beach-themed card that was brought to us by JoAnn Gantos.
Before there was any beach play, the business side of the meeting started with welcoming three new members to the Sassy Stampers Club, which brings our membership to roughly 80 Stampers! We have some exciting special events coming up for Stampers to extend the knowledge of our craft, which Stampers are asked to watch for in GroupWorks updates.
Every month Stampers are asked to make cards for the CATC display window. September’s window display will be primary school colors. We had the gift card drawing for window cards, volunteers for the month, and anyone who brought cards using the techniques learned from our July meeting. Our colors for the October window cards are lime green, purple, orange, and black. These cards will be turned in at our September meeting. Let the scary and spooky begin!
Sassy Stampers’ main charity is Support Our Troops (SOT). Cards are made for birthday, Christmas, and monthly cards sent to all the servicemen and women on the SOT roster. This year Sassy Stampers was asked to make Christmas cards for the Justin Food Bank. Children are invited to a special shopping session at the food bank during the holiday at which they will pick out a gift for their parents for Christmas. This year they will also get to pick out a special card made by Sassy Stampers to go with their gift.
Christmas cards were turned in from Stampers for submission to SOT to pick what card Sassy Stampers will make for the troops this year. There will be a mass assembly of these cards in September. It would seem the stores are not the only ones already preparing for Christmas.
Now, off to the beach! This month’s card was introduced and then turned over to table teachers to share their words of wisdom of what they might do differently with the card that was made on teach the teacher day. The tables were filled with many types of beach-themed stamps and colored pencils for tablemates to start their own creation of their perfect day at the beach. There were toes in the sand, sand buckets, sandcastles, and palm trees swaying shade over a beach chair. It’s always a reward for the teacher to see everyone share ideas and the result of their creations. Hopefully, you will be a recipient of one of these special cards.
Until next month, time to go wash off the sand. If you have any questions about Sassy Stampers, please contact JoAnn Gantos at [email protected] or 817 832-2739.
We hope to see you peeking in the Stampers’ window in the CATC soon.
