Hey, crafty friends! Looking to make a big, beautiful statement with your card design? One that’s easy to make but sure to impress? Then, Z fold pop-up cards are just the thing, like the one designed by Sassy Stamper, Mary Ford.

While new folds and techniques may seem complicated at first, these cards are actually quite simple to make. The only tools needed are a paper trimmer, score pad, and bone folder. That’s it! Seriously!

So, what’s a Z fold pop-up card? It’s simply a greeting card with folds that go beyond the standard single crease down the center. By adding extra score lines, angles, or interactive elements, the cards open in unexpected ways, revealing hidden surprise panels.

The magic of these cards lies in the clever folding structure and eye-catching layout. The card base itself is scored and folded in two places to create a “Z” shape, allowing the front panel to fold back onto itself. An internal panel is adhered to the Z fold with an attached stamped image, cutout, or other design element which is hidden from the outside. This panel appears only when the card is opened, creating a pop-up effect.

Z fold pop-up cards are the perfect way to add that “wow” factor to your handmade cards. Whether you’re brand new to card making or a seasoned crafter, this project is simple enough for beginners but versatile enough to be customized for any occasionbirthdays, thank yous, holidaysyou name it. And the best part? They still fold completely flat to fit into a standard sized envelope making them ideal for mailing or slipping into a gift bag.

So grab your favorite cardstock and patterned papers, and get ready to make something amazing.
