SOT Volunteers Display American Flags in 38º Weather

Sue Wells

This past Feb. 19 was Presidents’ Day. If you were traveling on Ed Robson Blvd. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., you would have noticed approximately 150 American flags waving in the wind. These flags are provided by and placed by the Robson Ranch Support Our Troops (SOT) organization. This organization boasts many members, a lot of whom were involved in the armed forces in their earlier life. The purpose of SOT is to support our active-duty troops in many ways. If you have a loved one in the military, please inform SOT. We send notes and cards on a regular basis, and troops who are deployed or stationed overseas receive packages throughout the year.

Be sure to check out the two yearly fundraisers sponsored by SOT: the April golf tournament and the Veterans Day Silent Auction. These fundraisers account for the many thousands of dollars used to provide support to the troops.

Presidents’ Day is the first day of the year that our flags are displayed. Look for them on Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Patriots’ Day, and Veterans Day. Hopefully, all residents will join SOT in displaying their personal flags on these days.

If you need a flag for your yard, please contact Quinn Sowell at 940-231-9647. If you have questions about SOT, please contact our president Scott Cooksey at [email protected].
