SOT Parade Support: The July 4 Robson Ranch parade was a great success due to the hard work of the parade committee chaired by Ralph Jankowski. At 7:00 a.m. SOT flag team volunteers placed 180 flags on the medians from the main gate to the Veterans Park and hundreds of smaller flags to mark the parade route. Sam Goodrich’s SOT parade team, assisted by parade committee members, spent two hours assembling the parade in the clubhouse parking lot. SOT members carried the Grand Marshall, MIA/POW, and SOT banners, as well as a special banner belonging to Army Chaplain Robert Pooley who served aboard two U.S. troop ships in the Pacific during WWII (SS Marine Cardinal and USS Yarmouth). A 48-star flag also flown over one of the troop ships and presented to Chaplain Pooley was displayed on a cart driven by the SOT president. Over 80 SOT members and their families participated in the parade.

Veterans Park Fall Brick Drive: The 2015 Fall Brick Drive is underway and will continue until October 9. Your donation for a 4×8 brick is $60; 8×8 brick is $110; and 12×12 brick is $180. All brick donations are tax deductible. Brick order forms are available at the Veterans Park Tribute Stand in the clubhouse or by email from [email protected].

Kroger Community Rewards Enrollment: As was noted in last month’s article, SOT has participated in the program for the past four years and received $1,400 in 2014 and $496 so far in the 2014/2015 program. The 2015/2016 re-enrollment period is August 1 to 30. You must re-enroll in the Kroger Community Rewards Program each year. You may do so on line at kroger.com/communityrewards. If you have not yet registered with Kroger, you will have to complete the registration process on their website before selecting a community rewards recipient. It is not complicated and will only take a few minutes to complete. The SOT web page has more detailed information about the registration process. SOT’s number is 84296.

Featherhead Donation: Many thanks to the Robson Ranch Featherhead golfers who donated $1,311 to SOT on July 17. Over the past two years they have donated over $7,700 to the SOT giving budget.

Meeting Information: The next SOT meeting will be at noon on Saturday, August 15, in the Bandera-Medina Rooms of the clubhouse. All residents and guests are welcome.
