Last year I wrote a Valentine to our neighborhood for the February edition of the Pioneer Press. This year I decided to look at how we are changing. Houses are sold; new faces appear. It was never more evident than at the Richardson’s annual Christmas carol sing along in December that our small part of the Robson Ranch community is altering.

Almost nine years ago the first house was completed. Within six months after that we enjoyed our first “back porch” party. Those of us whose houses were finished, or were in the process of being built, gathered for a potluck. We have continued the tradition every month since then. Even the few residents who moved away tend to return from time to time, especially for the Fourth of July party and for birthday Mondays.

But as the years go by, circumstances and obligations tend to pull us in other directions. Our priorities and friendships change. This shift is healthy. It shows that we are willing to grow as individuals as well as enjoy being part of a group. Perhaps this is why we continue to make an effort amid our busy schedules. So again, Happy Valentine’s Day, neighbors!
