Erminja Maganja, RR Trivia Club VP
The new RR Trivia Club held its second Trivia Night on May 4. Once again, we had a full house of 300 eager trivia buffs and folks out for an evening of fun at the Ranch. Tons of door prizes totaling nearly $1,900 were awarded throughout the evening—both to individuals and to entire tables. Prizes included gift cards to the Wildhorse Grill and Pro Shop and free Trivia Night tickets to future games.
Our enthusiastic congratulations to all the winners: The first-place team was Frontal Lobes, with each member receiving a $50 gift card. The Rockers earned second place, with each member awarded $25 gift cards. And our third place team was the 76ers, each winning $20 gift cards.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who participated. We appreciate your patience as we learn and improve.
This was the second of four Trivia Nights that the club will host this year. Our next game night will be held on Thursday, July 20. And our final quarterly game night for 2023 will be held on Oct. 5. Trivia Nights are held on Thursday evenings (doors open at 6:30 p.m., and game play begins at 7 p.m.). Future ticket sales will be held a couple weeks prior to each event date and will be announced through the HOA Clubs and Activities email and the HOA Message Board. Tickets are $15, which you may purchase as a team of 10 or individually. We invite you to join us for a fun evening with neighbors and friends!
Just for fun … here are three trivia questions from the May event. Answers are listed at the end of this article.
1. Category: Botany: From what tropical flower do we get natural vanilla flavor?
2. Category: Flags: Which is the only U.S. state that does not have a flag in the shape of a rectangle?
3. Category: Toys: What was the first toy to be advertised on television?
Trivia Night has historically been a popular event here in RR, but the HOA could no longer conduct the game due to the level of prep time and effort required (we’re learning the hard way that it’s not as easy as one might think!). The driving force behind the new club is Linda Smith, an active, well-known RR resident since 2007. When she learned the HOA would no longer host games, she set out to form a small team and, together, they launched the Trivia Club in November of 2022. Linda serves as club president, Susan Volgamore as treasurer and official scorekeeper during Trivia Night, and Erminja Maganja as VP and publicity.
We wish to extend our thanks to several people who volunteered to help with set-up, tear-down, and many other important tasks for the evening, including Jan Thomas, Judy Sale, Constance Quagliano, Marci Malcom, and Mary Shave.
