Two clubs here at Robson, the Music Club and the Classic Rock Club, presented the Borman Elementary Orchestra with a check for $2,286 on Sept. 13. This is the second year they have contributed funds to the Borman program. The funds this time will go toward funding the Orchestra trip to the DISD performance festival held at NRH20 Family Water Park. There they will compete, along with other Denton ISD students, before judges. Then, the rest of the day, they will get to enjoy the park. Participating in this competition would not have been possible without the funds donated. Any monies left over will go toward new, much-needed violin cases (the ones I saw looked as though they were from 1955).
Both clubs realize the importance of music introduction at an early age. Studies show that children who participate in the arts, and music especially, do better in all other aspects of learning and development. The Music Club and the Classic Rock Club are of the belief that children interested in music should not be denied for economic reasons. We are sincerely grateful to the Robson community for your support of this project. Without your generosity, this funding could not have happened.
The project is ongoing for this Orchestra, as the need is constant. If you would like to donate for the next school year, go to rrmusicclub.com and look for the Borman Donate button.
