July meeting at the Wildhorse Grill

The Robson Ranch International Club met for their June meeting at Khao San (Thai Kitchen) Restaurant on University Drive in Denton. Khoa San is a fairly new restaurant in Denton which serves authentic Thai dishes. Boom Piyanart, affectionately known as Chef Boom, is a part owner of the restaurant. She told us that Khao San Restaurant gets its name from one of Bangkok’s historic streets, which began as an important rice-trading route enjoying a long history associated with Thailand’s delicious food.

Among our members we have Pennee O’Boyle McEwen who comes from Thailand and Rupa Mathur who had lived in Thailand for two years. A number of our members are familiar with Oriental cuisine, and we all enjoyed our meal and socializing with each other. We have a new couple who joined the International Club recently, and we were very happy to welcome them at this meeting. They are Jennie Chiang from Hong Kong and Stephen Meese from Oklahoma.

Our July monthly meeting took place on the 21st at the renovated Wildhorse Grill. The Grill has gone through extensive extension, and we were looking forward to having our dinner there and promoting our Robson Ranch restaurant. The members enjoyed the buffet and were very pleased with the food and networked together for a few hours.

The Robson Ranch International Club welcomes new members to the group. To become a member of the club the participant must be a resident of Robson Ranch. A member can be single or a couple. In case of a couple, at least one of them must be born outside of the United States and be of foreign origin. The International member’s spouses and significant others are welcome to attend our gatherings.

Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month, and on special occasions we change the day.

Activities include outings and also luncheons or dinners either at members’ homes or restaurants. This forum promotes us to share our culture, experiences, cultivate friendships, as well as provide support and understanding.

Dues: Single person $10 and couple $15.

If you are interested in becoming a member please contact President Fred van Naerssen at [email protected] or Vice President Rupa Mathur at [email protected].

Our August meeting will be held at the residence of Alfred Van Gool and Rupa Mathur at 9716 Grandview Drive.
