Which Christmas?

P. Harwood

‘Tis the season that is folly.

For the people that fill the stores don’t seem jolly.

I hear them complain as they wait in line.

If it’s all that bad, why waste the time.

For the answer to the season’s superficiality won’t be

Found under their Christmas tree.

They stand and stare far into space.

Never saying, “Merry Christmas,” or having a smile on their face.

The buy now, pay later for Christmas isn’t a joke.

They’ll count the weeks ‘til they pay off the note.

They have a vague notion what Christmas is all about.

But without Christ in their lives there is so much doubt.

Let’s remember to smile whenever we can.

There are so many people who don’t understand.

So, what can we tell them this time of year?

Only Christ Jesus brings true Christmas cheer.
