If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody. – Chinese Proverb

Until retiring and moving to Robson Ranch, I struggled with work/life balance. Through the years the components evolved but striving for balance helped me to stay grounded. Once I settled in Robson, I was all about indulging in the amenities and environment  — walks, golf, fitness center, etc. and naps!

However, whatever the stage of life, a person stays grounded by balancing the needs of self and the needs of others. Kiwanis has provided an avenue to pursue the needs of children and the Denton community. Serving on the Kiwanis Club of Robson Ranch Needs Assessment Committee has provided enlightenment of many ways to serve.

Currently I am working on the Soles for Souls Shoe Drive. We have partnered with Funds2orgs to collect and distribute gently worn shoes to developing countries for a second chance through micro-enterprises. Our job is to collect shoes, shoes, and more shoes! We will be collecting shoes until the end of March at 9308 Grandview Drive and 12012 Brant Way, or at Kiwanis Bingo on March 22.
